Texas psychology transfer preparation: compare the published lists

The five psychology lists share four courses, but their two destination electives vary. Houston lists PSYC 2330 and PSYC 2316; UNT lists PSYC 2330 and PSYC 2315. Texas Tech lists ENGL 1301 and MATH 1314. Comparing the lists gives you specific questions for advising.

Which psychology courses do the lists share?

The publication lists these four core and foundation courses, each with three semester credits:

• PSYC 2301 — General psychology
• PSYC 2314 — Lifespan development
• PSYC 2317 — Psychology statistics
• PSYC 2319 — Social psychology

Which electives change by university?

The difference between Houston’s PSYC 2316 and UNT’s PSYC 2315 is preserved. CarryOver does not substitute one for the other. A course missing from a destination’s Field of Study list may still satisfy another requirement there.

What needs special attention at Texas A&M?

A&M’s 2026–27 psychology transfer sheets require PSYC 2330 on page 1 but omit it from the page 2 list of psychology courses accepted from community colleges. Both the BA sheet and BS sheet need to be read with this conflict in mind. Ask A&M to resolve it before enrolling; this guide cannot certify which rule applies to you.

The sheets also specify B-or-better grades in required courses. A course recorded with a C in a general comparison therefore does not establish that it meets an A&M admission prerequisite. Admission and credit evaluation remain separate college decisions.

How should grades, repeats and missing courses be handled?

CarryOver separates A/B/C entries with the listed semester credits from in-progress work and unresolved entries. C-minus, pass/credit grades, missing credit amounts, quarter units and repeated attempts need review. Two attempts at PSYC 2301 do not count as two completed requirements.

An unrecognized course is outside this comparison, not evidence that it will receive no transfer credit. General psychology BA/BS is the supported field; other psychology specialties and complete degree planning need a separate program review.
